COWELL COLLEGE SCULPTURE GARDEN

The courtyard Improvements provide for a sculpture garden and a newly accessible pathway through it, leading from auto and pedestrian access above to a reinvigorated courtyard below.  The courtyard fronts the Eloise Pickard Smith Gallery, as well as the coffee shop and a highly trafficked entry to the dining facilities.  The courtyard itself will be improved by abbreviating the existing coffee shop deck, providing more space for seating at the courtyard level as well as a more visible and generous entry to the building.  The goal of the project is to provide a dynamic transitional space to exhibit and contemplate sculpture, as well as a courtyard appropriate for small events and casual socializing, all the while enhancing the experience of the many pedestrians simply passing through the space.
